Women’s artistic gymnastics
Competitive Program
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics is a powerful sport that builds coordination, boosts confidence and takes creativity to the next level. Competitive gymnastics requires a high level of commitment and dedication. Here at WDYC we aim to offer three different programs to support gymnasts ability to compete based on their skill ability and commitment levels. All gymnasts are unique and develop at their own pace. In lower levels (Level 1-3) we do in class testing each term to track the gymnasts progression and to assess when they are ready to progress levels. In level 4-10 gymnasts will progress when they are safely ready to do so and when it is suitable based on the competition season. Many gymnasts will spend 12-24 months in each level before safely progressing. Our goal is gymnasts to enjoy the sport for as long as possible and to ensure we imbed our values of fun, friendship, fitness and fundamentals into this program.
Benefits of Competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics:

WAG Development Program
Venue: Bardon
Length: 2-9 hours per week depending on the level
Level: Australian WAG Levels 1 – 3
*Important Note: we do not compete in Level 1 and 2 externally. Internal Events are available.
Development Programs provide skill-focused training for young gymnasts who naturally excel and are ready for more structured, intensive sessions. These classes ease the transition to the Competitive Program by focusing on foundational gymnastics skills, strength, and flexibility. Gymnasts in the development stream typically train 2–9 hours per week with qualified instructors, cultivating strong basics and core techniques.
Our level 3 program has opportunities for the gymnasts to compete in at least 2 external competitions throughout the competitive season when the gymnasts are ready.

WAG Competitive Program

Competitive Teams are designed for experienced gymnasts who have the necessary skills for higher-level competition. Gymnasts join these teams after progressing through our Development programs, or by demonstrating prior experience in a comparable competitive setting. Training emphasizes technique, strength, flexibility, and advanced skill development, while encouraging athletes to set goals, collaborate, and pursue excellence as part of a team.
We offer 2 streams with the competitive pathways which is known as Lead and Excel classes. The difference between these classes is age, ability and commitment to training days/ times.
